Román Slavné časy zimbabwské spisovatelky NoViolet Bulawayo je alegorií na režim diktátora Roberta Mugabeho. Zároveň přiznaně navazuje na Orwellovu Farmu zvířat, takže jednotliví političtí představitelé i společenské skupiny jsou vyobrazeni jako zástupci zvířecí říše. Děj se odehrává ve fiktivní zemi jménem Jidada, která má ovšem mnoho historických i politických událostí společných se Zimbabwe.
